I have a 1988 Ford F-150 with 192,000 miles. It is an automatic with a V-8 350. Two problems, First when cranking the truck I have to pull up on the gear shifter to get it cranked and sometimes this does not work, I have already changed the ignition lock key which made it worse, put old one back in. Next problem is when turning the vehicle off when the shifter is in the P position, ignition lock only turns have way and I have to put the shifter in reverse to fully turn the vehicle off.
Thank you for any help.

Sounds like shift cable/bracket might be loose/stretched
next time you try to start and it doesn't, crawl under truck and pull the lever that the shift cable attaches to towards the rear of the truck with the shift selector all the way in P, if the lever moves when you do that, get back out and try to start it again. If it starts its probably one of those issues, had the same issue.
