I am not getting much air out of the vents when turning the fan on. When the air conditioner is on the air is cold. When the heater is on the air is hot. When I turn the fan speed up, I get more air, but nothing like I did last year. This only seems to be happening on the vents on the dash. The floor vents and the defrost seem to be o.K (although I can't really tell this for sure). Puzzling to me is I get more air when I turn the fan speed up, but not as much as I believe I should be getting. Any idea's?

Hi:
There are vent doors that direct the air to the desired location. If they are not fnctioning properly due to damage or a vacuum problem, you will not get all of the air through the vent. When you have it going through the vents, does it come out other places?

Hello, Yes it appears to be coming out on the floor and defrost while coming out the vents and vice versa. When I have it for the floor it still comes out the vents and the defrost. Same goes for the defrost (comes out the vents and the floor). Originally I thought it was only the vents but now I think that niether of the three are working correctly. How hard is this to repair on this vehicle?

The hard part is identifying where the problem is. Listen, the vents are run by vacuum from the engine. Try looking under the dash to identify any vaccum lines that are damaged. Also, follow them from the controler to their destination. Then you will need to follow them through the firewall to the engine to see if there is a problem. Also, with the engine running, listen for hissing sounds that would indicate a leak.

I wish I had an easier way to tell you, but this is it.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe
