2001 Ford F-150 Cruise Control

My cruise control will no longer engage/or even turn on. I am also no longer able to use the remote start. Are these 2 things connected? They both seemed to go out at the same time. What could be causing the problem?

Check the brake pedal position sensor located at the base of the brake pedal. It only has thwo wires going to it. If it is bad, the cruise will think you are pushing the pedal to disengage the cruise and the remote start has a brake pedal signal that allows the remote start to "disconnect" when you are ready to drive the vehicle. There may be two switches down there, one for the brakes and one for the cruise. The same principle applies for both switches.
