I have a 2000 f-150 xl that I just bought and it has 250,000 miles and I have been checking all the parts on the truck to see if its still in good condition and everything seems to be fine, but im worried about the oil pump going out and the engine locking up, how do I know whn its time to replace it and how to tell if its bad? And what other things should I beware of keeping in mind with this truck having so many miles? Thanks for your help.

Definitely want to replace the fluids (engine oil, clutch fluid etc.) Since you don't know when they were changed last. For the oil pump, if it starts to weaken then your oil pressure will drop and your oil gauge will show it. If you don't have oil gauge in cluster than there will be a red oil drip icon to let you know if oil pressure is too low. May also want to inspect the timing chains to ensure they are not too loose. Chains usually last duration of vehicle but with over 200,000 miles there is a chance that some of the chain's links have weakend and stretched a bit.
