1987 Ford F-150

Engine starts fine idles fine but when I put in gear (automatic) it wants to die sometimes does but when doesnt die it runs fine. Put new fuel pump and filter, new transmission filter and fluid. Air filter new any ideas

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Also, how high is it idleing in park?

No have not checked for vacuum leaks. Idle is at 900 rpms when warm and in park. What should it be?

Actually between 700 and 900 is good. Check to see if you can find any leaks. With the engine running, listen for hissing sounds that may indicate there is a leak.
