My '98 does the same thing, only right now it only does it when you first start it. But from what I've read, it will get like yours soon. To verify this, use the poor man's stethoscope(a piece of hose, and your ear)to find out where it's coming from. From various forums I have discovered the cam position sensor assembly squeaks/squeals.(The thing they use in place of a distributor) Depending on your motor, it could be right in front of the engine, or it could be like mine. In the very back, behind the intake below and behind the coil pack. The reasoning behind it is that it's not getting enough lube either from a change of oil viscosity or a pcv valve not working correctly and not allowing the engine to breath. If it's squeaking that bad it probably needs to be replaced. By what I read, you have to be real careful if you decide to replace this, the sensor is only about $40 but it takes an alignment tool to make sure its in the correct position. If it isn't, it could damage you engine because this also tells the injectors and coil pack when to work. I'm not sure how much the rest of the assembly will run ya'. Do a google search for 'ford 4.0 cam position sensor' I have found a bunch of sights that tell you how to replace correctly. Good luck. We'll both need it.
