I have a 1997 ford explorer with 106,000 miles. The engine is well maintained, but the "looks" are starting to fade. The interior cruise control buttons on the sides of the steering wheel have rotted. The plastic is peeling off and I can see the plastic/metal wire and pieces. The cruise control works, so can I just replace those controls or do I have to replace the entire system? Can I just remove the buttons and not use the cruise control?
