When I run the A/C in the city, it works fine. But when I throttle up on the expressways the forward vents turn off when I exceed 50 MPH. Air stops flowing from the forward facing vents but still comes out the floor and window vents. What would cause this?

In this case, you are looking for a vacuum leak. THe vents are actuated by vacuum. When you accellerate, the engine vacuum drops. If you have a leak, the direction of the vents will change.

Check under the dash and the hood for leaks. With the engine on, you may get lucky and hear a hissiing sound.

Let me know what you find.
