When I press the brakes, the car jumps and the rpms go all the way to 2000 and the car moves forward, then it slows down gradually. It just starting happening and I'm afraid I'm going to get into an accident, what could it be? This is on my 1998 ford explorer 6cylinder 4x4

I would start by checking for a vacuum leak in and around the brake booster.

Let me know what you find. Also, you may want to have a vacuum test done on the booster to make sure it is holding pressure.
