Where is the pcv valve located for this vehicle?

The PCV valve is located at the rear of the engine here are diagrams below to show you the location. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

For your 2000 Ford Truck Explorer 4WD 5.0L EFI 8cyl. The PVC is located in the valve cover at the end of the crank case ventilation hose. Here is a picture of what it looks like.

Is it possible for so much build up to occur in the pcv hose and and components before the pcv valve and in turn collapse the upper pcv two intake hose to collapsed intake to pcv hoses. Both 171 and 172 codes. New plugs wires coil maf and pcv valve. Sputtering cold starts and poor top end performance. Please help.

Yes, carbon can cause problems. If the PCV hose is collapsed, that tells me the hose is plugged or the pcv is plugged. The intake provides vacuum to the PCV. The pcv should allow the crankcase to be vacuumed back into the combustion chamber. If the hose is collapsed, either the hose is plugged or the PCV or for some reason (one I don't know of) there is vacuum in the crankcase.
