My 4 year old son decided to kick the door lock button while it was unlocked. The button broke off and now the door won't open. What can I do to diagnose and fix the problem?

Did he kick the switch (electric) or the manual one on the top of the door panel?

What you need to do is remove the door panel. Chances are the linkage from the lock is broken or disconnected.

Yeah, I've been fiddling with a coat hangar to get the door open. I don't think I'll be able to get the panel off until I do.

You can remove it with the door closed, it's just a pain.
