1997 Ford Expedition leaking rear end

Hi, I have been having trouble with the rear end on my Expedition. I have had it fixed twice and it is leaking again. I have never heard of a metal to metal seal, should there be a gasket? If not why is this leak happening again

First, is it leaking from the rear cover? Second, have they put it together without a gasket? Are they using a sealant at least?

Hi, yes it's leaking from the rear cover, no they didn't use a gasket and yes they did use a sealant and let it sit to cure for 1 day before adding fluid. Should a gasket have been used? This is the second time it's been repaired, any suggestions? Thanks for getting back to me.
