Tail lights out 1992 Ford Escort LX 126,000 miles

Hello, is it the main lights at the back or is it the brake lights? Its just I had lost my brake lights and it turned out to be the brake light switch which is connected to the brake pedal. I did also hear that if these switches go they can sometimes cause other problems with the electrics but im not sure if that is true so worth checking anyway. Good luck.
