I had a problem with the Altenator and the original battery as I have had the car from new and not replaced it. Basically the car Ignition warning light was appearing and not going out. I took the vehicle to a local Ford dealer and they probed the battery with the Engine running, it was outputting 10V so he said as I thought that the Altenator had gone. I replaced this with recon'd unit that was known to be working. Changed the Main Battery as this was gassing on bench charging and never getting to full charge after 3 days of charging.

Fitted new battery but light is still lit. Checked battery voltage with lights and Hazards running plus radio. Output was 13.8 - 14.4V which appears normal to me and the manuals. Checked the output at the Altenator and this was comparable with above. I have not checked the Current yet but is this likely to affect the above as a new battery shouldn't be drawing a full 80 Amps Should it?

Anything I have missed or need to also check would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Austin

To avoid more confusion, please show me which light that is on.

Sorry should have been more specific eh!

No 10 - Charge Indicator.

Again measured the Voltage at the Altenator and the Battery which was reading 13.5 - 14.3 V

Still not had chance to check the Current output yet an the Altenator. Will do so this evening and post back the results.

If your back up light and instrument cluster don't work, replace METER fuse 10A under the driver dash. They are all on the same fuse.

If they work, verify that white/blue wire is securely connected to "I" terminal on the alternator.
