Engine Performance problem
1997 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 136K miles

The last couple days on my drive into work I have had a problem w/ my car getting out of the hole. When I first take off it seems to sputter and chug. It starts fine and idles fine but only when I step on the gas does it chug. My service engine light came on and it says in the manual it is emissions related. Would I replace either the CP valve or the purge flow senor?

The manual just says its emissions releated, but thers hundreds of things that could be wrong.

Get the vehicle scanned for trouble codes and post back and I can help you.
