This issue can be due to several factors.
It can be for weak spark plugs, dirty mass air flow sensor, clogged fuel filter etc.
The best course of action should be to have a look at the primary components and verify they are functioning properly.
If it has not have one in the recently I would suggest first doing an engine tune up. Many times a tune can restore the lost performance and drivability.
Typically a tune up includes changing of the oil and filter, spark plugs replacement, air filter replacement, fuel filter change, cleaning out the mass air flow sensor, cleaning the idle air control valve as well as the throttle body.
