1997 Ford Escort cutting out

I am the owner of a 1997 P reg ford escort cabriolet. Starting today, this car has begun cutting out every time I remove my foot from the accelerator, to apply the brake. Though it starts back up everytime, it still cuts back out when I again remove my foot from the accelerator. What could be the cause of this?

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure?

Hi. No warning lights have come on and fuel pressure pump is fine. Was wondering if it could possibly be the idle control valve?

Yes, it could be the idle air control valve (IAC) or the throttle positions sensor (TPS).
