1993 Ford Escort Battery terminals

I took the battery out because it had green corrosion growing on it. Now I can't remember if when your standing up against the drivers side fender looking at the battery, if the positive is on the left of right? One of the battery cables has a black plastic piece attached to it.

the battery should have symbols on it near each post. one being + for positive and the otehr - for negative. Negative will be black in color while Positive is identified as red in color . ground should be closest to firewall on your vehicle, black wire with maybe yellow stripe on it.
