2003 Ford Explorer 4.0L Eddie Bauer 30,000 miles
Rear vibration at 60 mph and faster. Still there after letting off throttle, still there in neutral. Due to some tsb's Ford has replaced crown and pinion in rear diff with updated one, and has replaced drive shaft with update, neither helped. Was told it must be a tire problem. Rotated tires, same problem. Replaced left rear outer tie rod and end, was told it was a bit worn, same problem. Was told tires may all be bad, so I bought all new tires, high speed balanced to " zero"so they said, still have the same problem. I'm going crazy, broke, and very frustrated. What else could this vibration be?

Thank's Guy's,
The problem has been found and corrected, and not by Ford! I went to a driveline specialist who removed the rear driveshaft, spun it and found it was perfectly balanced. However after taking the driveshaft out and inspecting further, they found that the yolk on the transfer case was loose. Tightened it up, drove it, and like magic the problem was gone. So much for Ford's " Technicians" and all the expense and frustration they put me through! I wonder now if this loose yolk may have caused damage to the transfer case because of all the vibration?
