Long story short. Driving at speed of 50 miles an hour. Smooth road, no bumps. Not in a turn nor used the brakes. Car has regular maintenence. Fuel filter was changed with in the last 8,000 miles. This car has performed flawlessly since day one. Never has ever had a check engine light and always passes e-check with fying colors. Anyway.55 miles an hour it just quits. Checked the power at the fuel pump. There was none. Checked the roll over safty switch and it was fine. Checked for power before the safty switch again no power. Fuel pump we have checked atleast we belive we have checked all fuses and all or atleast the ones we checked seemed good. Fuel pump relay clicks on but still no power to the pump. Replace fuel pump relay. Again still no power. Took out the relayout of all the prongs in the relay holder I found one with power while the key was in the run position. Took a short wire jumper I put 12 volts off the only one that had 12 volts jumped to the fuel pump.U could hear it come on as well as hear the fuel moving fuel as well as hearing it pressurise the fuel system. Had my wife try to start the car. Whoo hoo it runs.I even took it out out the garage did some power braking and ideld backing up and pulling forward, ran perfect as always. Shut it off and strated it back up several times. Unhook my jumper wire in the the relay box under the hood and it quits running as soon as iyt bleeds all the fuel pressure of. If the chip in the key is bad will it stop the fuel pump from running or will it just stop the starter from engaging. Any ideas. What else would stop the pump from getting the 12 volts it needs? Any ideas at all thanks much.

Either the relay is bad, or it has a bad connection. If you hear it getting power but the pump doesn't work unless you jump the relay, the problem is right there. Keep in mind, if you are jumping with a wire, it may have a better chance of hitting a good connection.
