When I drive my vehicle and reach a speed up to about 30-40 mph, my car begins to jerk or jump but as I continue to pick up speed, it stops. My check engine light also came on today. I went to put in on a machine and was told my cylinder 2 was not firing like it should. Does this mean my car needs a tuneup and how does this cylinder 2 or whatever cause this jerking or is it something else causing it to do that?

Hi: I am not a pro mechanic but have had the same problem with my 99 town car. If it is the same, I expect each plug has it's own coil that is to say no high voltage wires.

The scan info sounds correct,
This may be (1) bad plug (2) bad boot going from the coil to the plug (3) a bad coil
These for the most part are not difficult repairs. Should you find the plug is bad, I would expect all need replacement. Inspect plug, if ok Consider replacing the boot first then coil or replace both.
Until this were done I would skip the tuneup. If you have to take it in, consider asking them to replace boot and coil, new plugs would be ok considering miles.
