1998 Ford Contour Heater/AC

The heater/AC vent is stuck on or remains in the defrost vent. I cannot get it to change from this setting to dash or the floor. Any suggestions?

Check the vacuum lines under the dash. Make sure that you have vacuum to the control head. If you don't have vacuum, trace the line to the engine. If you do, check to make sure the control head is diverting vacuum like it is suppose to.
