You would be looking at around 40 to 50 dollars per bearing. And that would be just about it if you did yourself, but if not your looking at that price plus labor.

Good luck to you

Hello,

If I may ask, were exactly is the grease coming from?

Is it behind the wheel itself?

Is it more toward the center of the vehicle?

Is it grease or could it be Oil and can you tell what color it is?

If it is the bearing you may not be able to do the repair yourself. You will need a special tool in order to press the old one out and the new one back in.

If it is more of a liquid and is more toward the center of the vehicle then it could be the CV Axle Seal. And if you aren't mechanically inclined then this could be difficult for you to do.

The grease (and I'm fairly sure that it is grease and not oil) that is leaking is behind the right wheel. I discovered it when I was getting the brake pads replaced. It is only on the right side. I am considering buying a whole new CV axle, would you suggest that?

Ok, so the cv joint boot has failed at the outer joint.

Yes, I would recommend replacing the entire axle, only because depending on how long the joint has been exposed to the road dirt and grime it has most likely damaged the bearings in the joint. And just replacing the boot would stop the damage already done from getting worse.

And if you were to replace the joint components with a cv joint repair kit, it would most likely cost you more to do than just replacing the CV Axle.
