The truck has been sitting for over 5 years. I just got it all running, but when I went to check the headlights there was nothing. All other lights work except the dash lights. The headlamps are good. Would the dimmer switch cause this problem? I think it is a bad headlight switch in side the cab. Do you have any ideas?

Hi:
That would be my guess. Try the switch and let me know what you find.

Hi:
Which switch did you replace? Also, is the high beam switch on the floor or in the turn signal switch? And is it the headlights or the dash lights not working, or both?

The headlight switch is mounted on the lower dash next to the wiper control switch. The dimmer switch is located on the floor. Dash lights work.

Hi:
Make sure the floor switch is properly grounded. If the vehicle sat, there could be a rust problem. If ground is ok, I would say replace the switch, but you may want to remove it and have it checked before getting a new one. I don't want you to get parts you don't need. Also keep in mind, if the switch seems good, it may fail under a load.
