I am getting a grinding where the left front axle goes into transmission, tire is wearing from wobble. Do I need new axle?

I would suspect a bad bearing since the tire is wobbling. And that can cause the axle to go out and cause the nosie you described.
Just because the axle is spinning off doesnt mean the wheel wilL!
