A few days ago it started sounding like a loose bolt, or something, was rattling around in the engine.

From under the van with engine running and ear close to the torque converter I could tell that it is in the converter.

I assume that it is a broken fin or bolt, or something, and that the longer it goes on, the more damage will be done.

Can I just remove and replace the converter by pulling out the transmission, or being front wheel drive, am I in for a nightmare?
If I swap converters from a pick-n-pull, what years and models will fit?

I can't afford to have it fixed, and must do it myself. Any help would be appreciated.
thank you

I don't think it's the converter. Pull the transmission and check the flex plate. Either the bolts are loose or the flex plate has cracked around the bolts. This would be good news! The flex plate is cheaper than the torque converter. :D :D :D
