Recenctly purchased this care. Replaced starter, batter, and fuel filter. Car was cranking and was also driving yesterday. Today cold, rainy, snowy, car wont crank. What could be the problem? Amp light is now on also.

Hello !

Well, we are going to start with the basics, check the battery cables, posts and connectors, be sure that are tight and clean, then turn the key and see if its trying to start or just dead (no sound or lights on the dashboard) let us know.

Then try a "jumpstart" and tell us what happens,

why do you replaced the battery and starter?

It was acting like that before?

The battery was dead?

Did you check the alternator?

Let us know to continue with the troubleshooting.

BTW thanks a lot for your donation!

We will be here waiting for your response.

1. Done. Sound and lights working
then try a "jumpstart" and tell us what happens,
2. Tried and still won't start

why do you replaced the battery and starter?

3. We were told that starter was a problem and just replaced battery because we had to jump it to start it and thought it needed a new one. Car had been sitting for 1 year without use just a montly crank up.

It was acting like that before? Yes but after starter was replaced the car ran fine all day yesterday.

The battery was dead? No

did you check the alternator? How?

Let us know to continue with the troubleshooting.

OK.

The shifter its in parking?

The shifter has a "switch" that prevents the car from start on a drive or reverse.

Sometimes its out of sdjustment, "jiggle it" a little bit and try it again.

If still not cranking we are going to continue with the starter.

It could have a "loose' connection or wire.

Did you replaced the starter by yourself?

Did you know the location of it?

If so, check the connector from the battery (+) that goes to the starter and check that its tight also if you have a 12 volt light tester check the "signal" wire for power when cranking.

Did you replaced the starter with a new one or reconditioned?

Let me know to continue.

Here you have an schematic of the starting wiring:

The "S" its the signal wire (where you have to have "power" when cranking) also you can "jump" a positive wire from the battery to that terminal and if good the sterter should work which means that the problem its behind...
.. if not the starter its faulty..

Could be a loose wire, bad starter relay or a faulty starter.

The starting circuit wiring its pretty simple. Few wires involved.

Any way, first, check the signal wire to see if we have power going to the starter (process of elimination) then. Will see.
