my old flywheel has an extra hole for a dowel coming out of the crankshaft.I can't find a new flywheel with the hole.I removed the dowel pin. Was this okay? I don't even have a dollar so looks I am on my own.

I removed flywheel, there is a dowel in end of crankshaft but I can't find a flywheel with the dowel hole in it. Is it okay to remove this dowel from the flywheel?
