my speedometer is faulty and requires a new osf speed sensor, could I be receiving higher and lower readings and if so is it worse to receive higher or lower readings. Thanks

Either the speedometer or the VSS is at fault causing as you said erratic reading or higher and lower reading. Too big Tire size cause that problem too.
