Hi,
The seat track position sensor isn't related to the operation of the seat movement. Instead, it is used by the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). The ORC uses the information (positioning of the seat) in determining the appropriate deployment force to be used when deploying the front airbags.
I'm not sure what code you have, but this is something that should be replaced. It is not repairable or adjusted. Now, the sensor could be bad, or it could be related to a wiring issue in the can-bus system. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the computers and modules are tied together via a few wires, so they all communicate together.
I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have additional questions related to the sensor.
As far as the issue, first inspect it to make sure the wire to it is not damaged, broken, or disconnected. See pic 1 for location.
If you look through the remaining directions, they are for the removal and replacement of the sensor. Please note the warning in pic 2 and the last pic. The last pic indicates the need for a scan tool.
Let me know if you have questions or if there is anything I can do to help.
Also, when checking the wiring to the sensor, here is a link you may find helpful:
