ESP then check engine then hobbled running?

Vehicle ran great, except a little occasional hesitation upon acceleration from stop. Clock spring replaced at VW dealer, then 30 short miles later ESP light, then check engine light, then hobbled idle. Took it to another VW dealer, who wouldn’t consider the clock spring association, replaced all fouled spark plugs, cleared the codes and we ran for 200 miles with no issues. Then, after a long idle, the exact same thing (ESP/check engine/ hobbled idle) happened. Now the original VW dealer service shop says its bad fuel injectors, bad coils and bad spark plugs (after only 200 miles!)

Any advice? I know the clock spring isn’t the first place to look but the car runs great except for these two episodes.

It sounds like you may have a MAF sensor that is out, but we need to run the codes to see what is going on. This guide can help us:
