There is only one crankshaft position sensor on the vehicle. So, I'm not sure why they said bank 1 other than if they meant a camshaft position sensor. Did they provide the codes for you that they found?
Now, the idea that the stability control is being affected likely has nothing to do with either of the aforementioned sensors. My first suspect is a wheel speed sensor. If a wheel speed sensor was damaged it will set the ABS, stability control, and traction control indicators. By chance, is the ABS light on as well?
Please understand that in most cases, the parts stores won't have a scan tool that can read codes related to the wheel speed sensors. You need a scan tool that can read ABS codes or the entire can-bus.
