When the engine warms up and I put in drive and go backward the engine seems to have a miss and a lope and error code p0172. What is causing this?

Most of the time this will be a vacuum leak, dirty air filter or the engine coolant sensor is off.

The P0172 code indicates a "System Too Rich (Bank 1)"

Let's go over this guide to help us see all the popular problems that cause this code:

I would check the engine coolant temperature on a scanner to see if it is close to the outside temperature, (engine cold), Then I would make sure the gasket/hose on the MAP sensor is good, I have seen a weak map sensor cause this issue as well FYI. Here is the location of the MAP sensor so you can check it out. Clear the codes once any repairs are complete. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
