EPC lights up when Engine is started

Sometimes the EPC light on the dashboard continues to light even when the engine is started. At this point the engine does not run smoothly and attempts to push the accelerator pedal the engine seems to stall. However when the engine is switched off and restarted the EPC light indicator goes off and the engine runs smoothly.

we need the code for the system to narrow down the area of failure

hi guys,
I have a 1997 c220 sport W202 model and i have the same problem with mine, the EPC light comes on when as normal when you turn the ignition on, but when i heat the car and start it he EPC light stays on and the car runs rough, but if i dont heat the car and just turn the ignition right round and start it the car is sound and runs smoothly but from time to time the EPC light would come on when driving. I was told it could be a fault in the brain of the car but not to sure, HELP PLEASE!!!!!
