When I put the keys in the ignition, the car has power.
I turn the key to start the car but the power dies.
I can remove the keys and try again but the car has no electric.
I have to open the driver door and then close it in order for the car to get power.
-repeat the process, same result-

It sounds like you have a loose or corroded connection at the battery. Check to make sure the terminals are clean and tight. Also, check the ground from the battery to make sure it is tight where it mounts to the engine block.
