I have a perfectly well running v8 limited 4Runner that I love! Even though it has a v8, I would love to have more power. I'm not interested in buying a Tundra/Sequoia, I want to make something of a sleeper SUV. I've looked at full exhaust, cold air intake, supercharger, throttle body, headers, and other upgrades. Underground racing has a supercharger they say increases 100whp instantly. 270hp at crank 230whp currently plus 10/12k worth of performance upgrades should add say 150whp so id be at 380whp. If we're to spend $12,000.00 on upgrades it'd still be cheaper than buying a newer vehicle with more stock power. My question is would I be able to add that much power without anything else? Would the block hold that much? Driveshaft, etc? Would it be possible to do an engine swap for a Chevrolet small block? Thanks a bunch.

Good afternoon,

The problem is the block.

You need a block that has a steel crank and pistons and rods for this.

Right now, you have cast iron crank and rods. They will fail under the pressure of the supercharger.

You will need someone to remove the motor and upgrade it to the specs for a supercharger. That alone will run you about $6,000.00 to $8,000.00.

Are you ready for that?
