My pickup has a I4 in it right now and living in a place like Montana I need more power to be able to make it up those passes, and possibly even tow smaller loads. The smaller I4 struggles to make it up the passes in fifth gear, and tow a small load behind like a riding mower. I have thought about adding a turbo, but I do not think that it will do the job for the purpose of what I am needing it for. I was wondering if I could swap the LS V6 into it? I am not sure if it will hurt the drive terrain or suspension on this vehicle.

Good afternoon.

No, do not think about a turbo. You need an engine with the correct crankshaft, pistons and connecting rods. Yours does not have that.

Yes, a V6 would be a good option. You will need to change the complete power-train, engine and transmission. You will need to get a complete wiring harness for it as well since the other harness will not work.

You may want to consider upgrading the truck since this will be a very expensive update.
