Engine stops while driving

my engine only starts when there is a yellow sign for engine indication. so at times while driving the engine light flashes and disappears for about thirty minutes, but when the light comes back with only one kick the engine starts. sometimes I drive and switch it off at my arrival destination but when I want to go,the engine light is no more and it wont start.
