This sounds like it is going to "neutral" which could be due to a malfunction or it is caused by the transmission controller putting it in this mode to protect the transmission from damage.
Either way, we need to start with checking for codes. With the lights going on there will be some codes. I am hoping this is simple like a speed sensor and not more complicated like an internal transmission issue. However getting the codes will tell us this. Let me know what you find and we can go from there.
