About a week ago I noticed a significant hiccup/hesitation when going up hill at a slow pace. Initial there was no check engine light on. The next day I cleaned the MAF thinking it may be the culprit. No changes were noticed. 2 days later the CEL finally came on with a cylinder 1 miss fire. The light has went off and came back on a few times over the last week or so. At times no hesitation at all is noticed and the car runs fine. However, it does not last long. The plugs and wires were changes about 50,000 miles ago. My thought is that it may be a weak ignition coil but don't want to blow $90 on it only to not fix the issue.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You need to hook up a spark tester to #1 to see if you are loosing spark it sound likes a coil but may also be a fuel injector but more likely the coil. You can should be able get a used on at a wrecker
