Car keeps cutting out and "shuts off". Wait a minute and try to turn it over and after a few attempts it will run. I drive a very short distance and it happens again. This repeats a couple of times and then it will drive normally to get me to work. The same happens eight hours later when I leave work. I have hooked it up to a diagnostic and got varying results from cam shaft sensor to injection control module malfunction. I have fitted a new cam shaft sensor and fuel filter. I have checked the filter in the tank which is clean but it still does it. I have been told it could also be the gearbox speed sensor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

First, I want you to read through this link. It describes symptoms of a bad crankshaft sensor.

If you have checked the sensor and confirmed it is good, I would recommend confirming fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specifications.

Here are general directions for testing fuel pump pressure. It discusses the regulator as well as fuel pressure drop off.

If possible, let me know the exact trouble codes you got. That will better direct me.

Let me know.

Joe
