Engine shut down going down the highway. Acted like it ran out of gas. I have put new fuel pump and filter on it. Also changed the distributor cap and rotor. Seems to have fuel and spark but engine will not fire up.

Let's start with how you are confirming fuel and spark. You need three things for the engine to start. Fuel, ignition/spark at the right time and then compression.

Let's assume you have compression for now and come back when we confirm fuel and spark.

Start with spraying some starter fluid in the intake and see if it fires. If not, pull a spark plug and connect it back to the wire and hold it against the block to see if you have spark.

Or let me know how you confirmed spark and fuel.

Here is a guide that goes into a little more detail:

If we confirm fuel and spark then let's do a compression check and let me know each cylinders number.

Thanks

Okay. So if starter fluid did affect it, what happened when you removed the plug? Do you have spark at the plug?

Have you done a compression check? What are the PSI numbers for each cylinder?
