Hello, I have the van listed above. Yesterday afternoon, I started the van to go to the store and I notice that the check engine light stayed on. When I got back home and got the groceries put up I went back out side with my obd 2 code reader. I had a code reading of “p1320”. I looked the code up on the internet and it said that the code reading means either “primary ignition signal or ignition coil or wire to the ignition coil or distributor”. Can you tell me step by step how to check this out? The van runs good, but does have a miss while sitting at a stop light or stop sign. Thank you, Bill Hewitt

Hello,

Direct Trouble Code(DTC) 1320 is a manufacturer specific trouble code meaning Distributor Signal Interrupt. I have included a step by step troubleshooting guide for you in the diagrams below. Run through it and let us know what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex

I forgot to put in the second code reading, it was "p0010". Could you tell me what this means and step by step how to check this out. I looked up this code reading on the internet but couldn't find out anything or I overlooked it? Thank you again, Bill H.

Can I have a clarification on the year of production, please. Mercury Villagers were produced from 1993 - 2002. Direct Trouble Code(DTC) P0010 is a Powertrain DTC A Camshaft Position Acuator (Bank1). This is a universal or SAE DTC because the first number is even. If it were odd, it would be a manufacture specific DTC. Believe it or not, DTC's follow a specific, organized pattern. The letter represents B=Body, C-Chassis, P=Powertrain, U=Network. The first number is the sae or manufacture code, the second is the vehicle system, and the last two are for the subsystem in the vehicle system.
Anyway, please check your vehicles year of manufacture, and get back to me and we can go from there.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello again Alex,

I didn't really understand you above question. The vehicle I am asking about is a 2000 Mercury Villager van with automatic transmission, 2wd, 3.3l v6 engine. (Error code p1320) and (error code p0010). Will be waiting to hear back from you, again thanks for working on this with me. A "step by step" and "how to guild" would be a big help. I know basic car stuff like oil chance, plugs and wires, but not electric vehicle wiring. Thanks again,
Bill H.

Hello again,

Okay. For some reason on my computer your vehicle came up as a 2009 instead of a 2000. Could I have you please ask a new question about DTC P0010? The only reason I ask this is that it helps other's who look up content on our site. I will answer your question then.

Many Thanks,
Alex

Hello Mr SCWICKEDSTANG (Alex),

Service Engine Soon light started showing about a week ago. I used my OBD 2 code reader and it showed the following codes:

P1320
Manufacturer control (0010)

P1320
Manufacturer control (0010pd)

The above codes are showed just like what you would see on my code reader. Sure hope this will help you with figuring out what is wrong with my Van. Will be waiting to hear back from you and again a big thank you. Bill H.
