Pressure test it for coolant jacket leaks for some. Pressure test the cylinders for others. Combustion gas test for the head gasket/block interface.
Oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. Strange sounds if the lower web is cracked and the crank can move. Crack detecting dye kit if you can get near the suspected area.
