Hi,

An engine running hot can be caused by several things. First, make sure the engine coolant is full and clean. If it is, confirm there are no obstructions in front of the radiator including dirt and debris.

If that all checks good, then I would recommend the replacement of the engine coolant thermostat and flushing of the cooling system.

Also, if the engine only overheats when in stop-and-go traffic, make sure the cooling fans are operational.

Here are a couple of links that explain in general how to replace a thermostat and flush the cooling system:

Note: I am not showing the engine size you indicated as an option. Can you please confirm it for me?

Note: If you decide to do either of these repairs, do both at the same time. Otherwise, you will likely lose the new coolant if you decide to do the other at a different time.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe
