I've been noticing one thing in my car that its electrical components stop working after some time of showing symptoms.
My fuel indicator (which tells us how much fuel your car has) had once stopped working but started working fine the other day, it happened several times that fuel indicator stopped and started working fine the next day (even if it started, it stopped after driving it for some time) and finally it stopped working and never started again. And the same thing happened to my chime (indicator, hazard, seatbelt sound)
It stopped and then started again.
Also, there's a bit of a burning smell in my car after driving it for a while.
So, I guess the wires must be burning inside the hood or something.
How do I fix it? What is the main thing that I should look for?

Hi,

If you are smelling something burning, that is a big concern. It can lead to a fire.

Honda Jazz isn't offered in the US, so I don't have the specifics on it. Here, we have the Honda Fit which is an electric vehicle. This leads me to have no schematics for the Jazz. What I do suggest is this. After driving the vehicle and noticing the smell, open the hood. See if you can tell me an approximate location it is coming from.

If you cannot pinpoint an area, open the fuse box and see if there is excessive heat coming from any of the relays or fuses.

Start with that and let me know what you find. I will try my best to help. Also, if the burning smell is strong and you are not comfortable checking things, you may want to consider having it inspected by a tech.

Here is a link you may find of interest. It explains in general how the electrical system on a vehicle operates.

If you have questions, please let me know. Also, if you find anything hot, let me know that as well. If possible, take a pic of the electrical component and upload it for me to see.

Take care and be careful.

Joe
