Car was a stolen recovery, so the ignition was replaced. The wires for the ignition were cut but the steering wheel lock was not deactivated. Cigarette lighter was pulled out. It appears the car was not actually taken but was vandalized in the attempt. The var runs and drives but the following electrical does not work; Cigarette lighter, courtesy lights, dome light, power door locks, and power mirror adjustment. Also, the fuse marked interior light was bad and would just blow again if replaced. Any ideas what to look for? I do not have a wiring diagram. Model is LX 2 door coupe. Thank you

Hi,

Okay, this sounds like you have your hands full. As far as the interior lamp fuse that always fails, there has to be a short at some point. If you close all doors and turn off the interior lamps, does the fuse still fail?

Also, the power door locks are on a different circuit. They are powered by fuse 27 in the under-the-dash fuse box. Is the fuse good and does it have power to and from it?

Here is a link you may find helpful:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Also, does the radio work? I ask because that is powered by the same fuse as the cigarette lighter. If the radio works and the lighter doesn't, check to see if the power wire to the lighter has been cut or damaged.

The power mirrors are on a different circuit also. Fuse 5 in the under-dash fuse box is the supply. Check and confirm that fuse as well as test for power to it.

Let me know where the wires were cut. Also, let me know if there are any disconnected or taped-off wires in the same area.

Let me know.

Joe

Hi Joe, thank you. The interior light fuse does fail with the light off and the doors closed. We are using the diagrams in the following link for the under hood and under dash fuse boxes. https://www.autogenius.info/27374/ don't see a #27 under the dash. the under hood #27 is listed as blank. the cigarette lighter is working. The problem is a damaged plug, so that is solved. Power mirrors: fuse #5 under the dash is listed as blank on the diagram. it does not have power in. The main wires were cut where they leave the steering column and head down to the fire wall and interior fuse box. The ignition was damaged - actually had a piece of broken plastic jammed into it. I included a picture of the new part my husband put in. Also, I forgot to mention that the 50-amp fuse in the engine compartment was blown. I assume this happened when the vandals tried to hotwire the car. Thanks for your help. Would it be possible to get a wiring diagram for this car? Margaret and Jennifer.

Hi,

It looks like he replaced the ignition switch. Was there any change? Also, as far as the wiring schematics are concerned, you are certainly welcome to what I have. I'm just not sure which circuits will be most helpful. Additionally, all I have are the OEM schematics for most components which can be difficult to follow.

Here is what I've done. I've attached the power distribution circuits below. They include the fuse boxes and what each fuse powers. Let me know if this helps or if there is a specific thing you are looking for.

Take care and let me know what I can do to help.

Joe
