As I was driving down the road my positive battery cable came loose and must have grounded multiple times as the vehicle had multiple surges in the short time, it took me to get pulled over and tighten it back up. The wipers came on and were going extremely fast enough to launch one off. The Cluster is fried well at least the gauges don't work. The warning lights come on and ESP, ABS remain on. All the lights blew the bulbs. The ABS pump motor stays on all the time and the car is in limp mode. I replaced all speed sensors. The #17 abdominal muscles fuse keeps blowing and I believe this is reason for limp mode. Going to remove the ABS module and see if it can't be fixed with a little soldering. Is that where the abs relay is? Also bought a short finder to try and locate short. All interior lights remain on even with the key out of the ignition. Already checked dimmer switch not the issue. Rear back up lights stay on as well. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

If the battery terminal was loose, it shouldn't have caused all of this to happen. I have a couple of questions. When you say the wipers were going extremely fast, was the battery still connected?

As far as the ABS relay, it will be in the fuse under-hood fuse box.

Were there any electrical issues prior to this happening? This vehicle has a totally integrated power module (TIPM) which may have been damaged. Also, the higher speed wiper issue indicates higher voltage is supplied. That would have only happened if the powertrain control module (where the voltage regulator is located) failed and the engine was still running.

Let me know. Also, let me know if there is any evidence or damage to the fuse boxes, wiring, or anything that supplies power to the failed components. Also, check around the battery to make sure there is nothing damaged.

Let me know.

Joe
