Took pickup to dealer with dead battery. Took dead battery to Interstate where they confirmed dead cell and replaced it free. Took new battery to dealership where it was installed. Ran for 2 days. Quit again. Jumped started 4 times getting it back to dealership. Now they say it is bad alternator. Did dealership short alternator out?

Hi,

It is possible if they charge the truck with a 40 amp charger and started with the charger still hooked up to the truck but it is rare for that to happen, It is possible they misdiagnose your truck and it wasn't charging when you took it the first. Please let us know if this info. Was helpful.

Thank you
Joe T.

I think they probably didn’t check the alternator the first time.

I agree. They definitely misdiagnosed it. While I'm sure the battery did in fact need to be replaced, it obviously wasn't the root cause of your issue.

Thank you. At least they gave her the rental car for free for the week it took to replace the alternator.
