More then likely this is the control module called the rear seat entertainment ECU but we need to make sure there is power and ground at the display screen.

I included the testing that needs to be followed. As you can see it is saying that you need to check power and then suspect the control units. I would suggest going to the display screen and checking for power and ground. Then I would move to the control unit and then the DVD player.

Just to make sure, do you get any display, flicker, or input display when using the system or is the screen black 100% of the time?

We own a 2005 Limited Toyota Sequoia that we bought new. It has the DVD option and the back is not working. This summer we went on a trip and it didn't work on the back screen, so we stopped and got batteries for the remote control. I figured that had to be the problem and it was. Four months later, it didn't work again, so I thought -Odd- but maybe it's the batteries on the remote control. Long story short, that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas? Are we able to get a new remote? I say that because that seems to be the only way to control the back screen, so without that, the DVD in the back is useless. If we can get one, how and who do we call to get something like that? I can only assume that is the problem, but maybe there is more to this than meets the eye.

Hi, I might be too late to answer your question, I think you answerd your own question by replacing the remote, most likley it's the remote specially if it was exposed to the sun alot , that Offcorse if you don't have an aftermarket head unit because it will not work with an aftermarket HU, if you have took care of it or still in need for help, don't hesitate to ask, I'm a Toyota specialist and own a 05 sequoia myself, good luck.

Hi. I'm having the same issue with my 2006 Toyota Sequoia. I have the factory DVD entertainment system (monitor mounted in the ceiling) with the original remote. My monitor will not come on. I've replaced the batteries and tried all the buttons on the remote to wake it up with no success. I've had this Sequoia since 2008 and this problem just arose a couple weeks ago.

There are some fuses that need to be checked, it might be the DVD player itself. Here are some guides to help you see how to do the testing which is easy.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-test-light-circuit-tester

if the fuses check out okay check for power and ground at the DVD player if that's okay the DVD player is probably out.

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

I have a 2016 Toyota Sequoia. We changed the car battery and now the rear entertainment system will not power on. I checked all fuses and all are good. Any ideas?
